Little Free Library Grant Application

Grant applications are only open to residents in and around the Washington, MO community.

Thanks for your interest in hosting a Little Free Library. The Community Literacy Foundation offers an annual grant of up to $500 to support establishing Little Free Libraries in our community.

Information about Little Free Libraries is abundant on the internet. There are plans for building one yourself. There are kits. There are ready-made Little Free Libraries. Decide what type of box you will use, how much it will cost, and how much financial assistance you want to request from the Foundation. If your application is approved, the Foundation will also supply funds to buy books to start your collection.

Here are some helpful questions to ask as you fill out the application.

  • What function does your organization serve? Whom do you serve and where? Who will benefit from a Little Free Library on your property?

  • What is your plan? Why do you want to install and maintain a Little Free Library? What do you hope to achieve?

  • How much will the project cost? What funds do you have to devote to this project?

  • When will you begin work on creating and installing the Little Free Library?

When do you anticipate having the Little Free Library ready for public use?

How do plan to maintain the appearance and functionality of the LFL?

How will you keep it supplied with books?

Do you plan on registering your Little Free Library at LittleFreeLibrary.org to place it on the national map? (There is a fee for this.)

The Foundation will not assist in building, erecting, or maintaining the Little Free Library.
